What Are Your Possibilities?

This is one of my favorite motivational/inspirational videos.
Check it out…

The message is simple:
Are you willing to do whatever it takes to achieve what you want out of life?

This is a great question to ask yourself whenever you are considering a new project/endeavor.
Whether it’s weight loss, business, or personal achievemnt, the question is still the same.

Are you willing to do whatever it takes to see this goal to completion?

If the answer is yes, then go for it!
If the answer is no, then don’t even bother because it won’t get done.

Asking that simple question will save you time and energy that you can put into projects that you do care about.

At the beginning of 2009, I set the intention to ask myself that simple question.
And, I’ll tell you what… I’ve never been happier! :-)

Now it’s your turn. Set the intention…
Everything you do, do it with purpose or don’t do it at all.

Let me know what you think. I’d love to hear what you have to say. :)

And if you haven’t done so already, be sure to opt-in for your free My Fit Life Fitness updates… I’ll also send you a Free 34 page ebook that shows how to get more results in less time by using fitness tips and tricks of top personal trainers.

How To Achieve Your New Year’s Resolutions: Step 3

Step Three- Planning and Preparing for Roadblocks: What are the big obstacles that will prevent you from having the success you desire? What’s contributed most to past failures?

Congratulations! You’re well on your way to achieving your New Year’s Resolutions. :)

Note: It is imperative that you complete Step1 and Step2 before starting this final step. Here are the links:

Step One- The Why: Why do you want to achieve your goal?

Step Two- Track It: You can’t improve what you don’t measure!

Now that we know what you want to accomplish and we’ve taken some baseline assessments, it’s time to plan and prepare for any obstacles that might get in your way of getting the job done based on your own personal schedule.

For most of my clients, the number one obstacle is time. They are too busy and tired and don’t have enough time to get their workouts in or make their meals.

Why is it that some people have the time to eat right and exercise and some people don’t? We all have 24 hours in a day.

There are a number of factors, but two of them stand out the most:

  • Priorities: How important is it that you reach your goals. If it’s important enough… you will find the time to achieve your goals; end of story. I can spend hours and hours getting you psyched up and giving you dozens of reasons why, but the fact of the matter is this:

“If you have a burning desire to fit into those someday clothes and be completely happy when looking at yourself in the mirror, you will do whatever it takes to achieve these goals.”

  • Planning: Now that you have set your goals and you have a burning desire to achieve them; you have to make a plan. It’s not enough to simply set a goal with a due date. You have to make daily and weekly plans with to do lists and back-up plans. Plan your day. Schedule time for exercise and eating well. Don’t let life happen to you. Make things happen in your life.

Another big obstacle is alcohol. People like to drink and in today’s world of instant gratification, life is one big party. Unfortunately alcohol is about as detrimental to burning fat as it gets. Again, what’s more important to you, looking sexy or drinking a few bottles of wine with the girls? The choice is yours. Remember, low to zero alcohol consumption is needed if you want to look your best year round and that’s a fact.

Lastly, many of my clients deal with emotional eating. They eat because they are happy or sad; as a reward or to drown their sorrows. You name it, eating is the best excuse for just about any situation. The solution here is to track your daily food intake, so you can get a complete understanding of your behaviors. Remember, you can’t improve what you don’t measure.

Once you get a complete understanding of your behaviors towards food and your emotional triggers (work, social events, home alone, etc.); you will have the information necessary to conquer any roadblocks that stand in your way

At the end of the day, whether your roadblocks are very individual or if they fall in line with the general roadblocks our clients encounter on a regular basis, the key is to be honest about them and to plan and prepare for them. And that’s where social support and accountability come into play. The clients who have had the most success with us have undergone their transformation with the support of other friends or family members. This is so critical, especially since most of the poor food and drinking choices that sabotage one’s progress occur on the weekend, when most people hang out with their friends and family.

Be sure to tell your family and friends about your goals and desires. If they are committed with you and your goals to get fit and look sexier, you will put yourself in a much better position to realize the success you desire and deserve. The last thing anybody needs is sabotage or peer pressure from those closest to you, so get them on board and get them on board early.

Now, it’s up to you. The ball is in your court. Make a game plan and stick to it until your New Year’s resolutions are achieved.

How To Achieve Your New Year’s Resolutions: Step 2

Step Two- Track It: You can’t improve what you don’t measure!

Congratulations! You’ve set your goals and we figured out you personal why! Now we need to establish where you are now and where you want to get to.

Well, there are four (4) major ways I track “look better” progress with my clients, in order of importance from least to most important:

1.) Scale Weight: This is by far the least important goal, but it gives a number that’s worth tracking. Though body fat percentage would be a much better method of tracking progress, it is simply too inaccurate. The key is to taking your initial weight before you start and then not weighing more than every 2 weeks. Most people do their best when they track their weight once a month. There are simply too many variables for controlling your body weight and the natural fluctuations based on diet (and for women, their menstrual cycle), means the less frequently you do this the better. If the scale is just too de-motivating for you in general, then just skip this one altogether if you must, because the next two markers are far more important.

Note: It is best if you weigh yourself at the same time of the month every month. Preferably, when you are not on your cycle.

2.) Dress/Pant Size: This is probably the most simple and effective unused method of tracking your progress. I think it’s safe to say that if you are dropping dress and/or pant sizes that you will be looking better, right? Your best bet is to also select one dress or one pair of pants that you really want to get into since that is the true end goal in mind. I tell my clients to assess how they are fitting in their preferred dress/pant size tracker on a bi-weekly basis since clients that follow our program exactly as outlined typically lose a dress and/or pant size every month (until they get to their ideal size and weight). For those of you who want to argue that every outfitter has different sizes, well that’s a mute point if you use the same pant or dress size to track. There’s nothing more powerful than being able to feel yourself comfortably get into clothes that you couldn’t imagine fitting into a couple of months prior.

3.) Girth Measurements: I like to take circumference measurements of my clients. The key is to use a tape measure that will not stretch (no cloth). Also, it is crucial to measure each body part in the same area every time. Doing this will insure accurate measurements every time.

Measurement areas:

  • Upper Arm
  • Chest
  • Waist
  • Hips
  • Thigh
  • Calf

4.) Pictures: Pictures don’t lie, that’s the bottom line. If you want to look better, what better way is there to assess this than pictures? I cannot begin to tell you how important this is. Taking a before picture is essentially you telling the whole world that you are ready to change and that you are ready to do whatever it takes to make those changes. They key is take pictures wearing the clothes that you want to look your best in. Maybe it’s a bikini. Or maybe it’s a pair of shorts and a sleeveless top that you want to wear during the summer. And if you want to see your abs, then you best believe that you need to take pictures of your abs to track how much more definition you get. Take a front, side, and rear view picture and be sure to note the exact conditions in which the picture was taken (lighting, time of day/week, etc.) to be as accurate as possible in your assessment. The clients whom I’ve transformed that failed to take before pictures in the past have nothing but regret about it. Your before pictures will become your trophy and they are an absolute must if you really are serious about getting results that count. I tell my clients to take new pictures either bi-weekly or monthly until they reach their goals.

Well, there you have it. You’ve set your goals; now go take a few measurements and your before picture.

Remember, you can’t improve what you don’t measure. :)

How To Achieve Your New Year’s Resolutions- Step 1

Over the last 22 years, I have helped countless people take control of their lives and become completely happy with the person staring back at them in the mirror. In other words, I know how to help people flatten their tummy and shed ugly body fat. Make no mistake about it, a big reason for this is because my integrated holistic rapid fat loss programs are second to none. I have done the countless hours of research and trial and error and I have had hundreds of people as real world case studies to prove that my systems flat out work. But, today I am going to share something more powerful; something that must be set in place before you can even start to think about following any fitness program.

So, let’s get right to it. What do you think is the real secret behind my client success? Well, if your answer was my aforementioned rapid fat loss programs, well… then your answer is wrong. Yes, the programs are incredible, but unfortunately they’re useless if someone is unwilling to start them AND stick to them, right? So, it appears that the most important component of changing your body is finding the motivation to stick to and achieve your goals, no matter what!

And, that’s the main focus of this article today. I am going to literally walk you through the initial consult and three step goal setting process that each one of my clients undergoes before they start working with me. This is so important to weight loss success that I now require it for any new client to be considered for joining our programs.

Why Do You Need To Set Goals?

Before we get into this goal setting process, I need to clarify on thing. I know a lot of people think goal setting is cheesy and useless. Unfortunately, these people just don’t get it and frankly if you are one of those people, please do us both a favor and stop reading this article and go buy another useless weight loss book or diet pill because I simply cannot do anything for you. I can only help people who want to learn. I simply cannot help people who already think they know it all and think they are too good to take some time to figure out exactly what they want to accomplish.

The bottom line is that every successful person that I know, not just weight loss success, but business, lifestyle, etc., are shamelessly goal driven. They know exactly why they want to do something and harness that super motivation to figure out what and by when they want to accomplish it. Furthermore, they plan and prepare for every possible roadblock they will encounter in their path to success. This is what I want to teach you how to do today, so let’s get to it!

Step One- The Why: Why do you want to achieve your goal?

This is where it’s time to get specific. In almost every initial consult I do, when I ask why they have contacted me today, here is the typical response that I hear:

“Well, I just want to get healthy and lose weight I guess.”

Nope, I don’t buy it. Sure, I know they want to lose weight and be healthy, I mean who doesn’t, but really WHY do they want to do this? I mean, what is it that’s going to get them up at 6 am to get their morning workouts in or take a couple of hours on Sunday to plan and prepare their meals for the upcoming week? It sure isn’t “being healthy” because for some reason this just isn’t a very powerful motivator for most people (though it should be).

Let’s face it: everybody, including YOU, wants to look better and feel sexy. You know it’s true and frankly that’s okay because the desire to improve one’s appearance is the most powerful motivator there is.

So, after a little digging, I find out the real reason why they want to start a program; I find their past pain and then establish their current and future ambitions. Some people want to be able to wear shorts and sleeveless tops and not feel self-conscious. Others want to get back into their favorite pair of jeans that they haven’t been able to get one leg into for the last five years. Then there are those who want to look and feel more attractive to ignite some passion back into their relationships and/or put forth their best image at work. And of course, my personal favorite is preparing for big events that have built in deadlines. Wanting to get as lean and tight as possible to look good on the beach in Cabo or looking you radiant best in your wedding dress on the big day, it all works! This is the stuff that gets people hyped up and ready to commit to making some real changes. How do I know? Well, I just shared with you verbatim the exact “WHY’S” of some of my own clients.

So, the first thing you have to figure out is your personal WHY. To make this even more simple for you, just answer this question: What are your physical dreams? Once you establish this, everything else is easy.

Now, get to it. Sit down for a few minutes to figure out your personal WHY.

Step Two- The What and When:

Check back here tomorrow and we’ll go over step 2 of this 3 part process.

BTW: Make no mistake about it. Doing these simple steps are the difference between achieving your goals and being doomed to another year of failure.

So, get to it. Finish Step 1 and come back here tomorrow to get on a straight line path towards happiness and success.

And if you haven’t done so already, be sure to opt-in for your free My Fit Life Fitness updates… I’ll also send you a Free 34 page ebook that shows how to get more results in less time by using fitness tips and tricks of top personal trainers.

How To Achieve Your Weight Loss Goals (Part 1)

Are you getting closer to achieving your goals?

Most of the people who read this blog have similar goals:
* Lose Weight
* Firm & tone
* Have More Energy
* Reduce Pain & Inflammation
* Fit Into Those Someday Clothes In The Closet
* etc., etc.

Question: How do we achieve these goals?
Answer: Eat right and exercise.

Duh!! Everybody knows this, Al.
Why don’t you tell me something new?

Well, the truth is, you don’t need something new.
All you need is…
1) A strong enough reason why.
2) The right (safe & effective) information.
3) A shift in the way you are currently doing things.

The first one is up to you.
Do you have a strong enough reason why you want to make a change in the way you
look and feel?

If so, I can help with the other 2.

As the saying goes:
“In order for there to be change, there has to be change.”

Tip for the Day:
Here is the easiest way for you to make a change in the way you are eating.
Whenever you are:
* Ordering food at a restaurant.
* Grocery shopping.
* Preparing a meal or snack.

Ask yourself this one question:
Is this meal/snack going to get me closer to achieving my goals or farther away from my goals?

If it will get you closer to your goals. Buy it and eat it.
If it takes you farther from your goals. Don’t eat it.

That’s it. It doesn’t get more simple than that!

How To Achieve Your Goals

I was sitting in front of my computer staring into the blue sky when I was reminded of the date today.
You most likely know that today is September 22, but did you realize…
There are 100 days left in the year?!
Can you believe it?
As they say, “Time stops for no man or woman.”
This brings us to the subject of this post:
Are you achieving your goals?
Most of us begin the year with a list of goals and resolutions that we have planned for the year.
However, by September, most of us can’t even remember what those goals were.
Often times, life gets in the way and we end up putting out the fires that occur in our daily lives…
Doing busy work instead of productive work.

How are yours coming along? Are you on a path towards achieving your goals or have you let your aspirations fade away?

I ask these questions because I am a success coach. I help people achieve their goals and want you to achieve yours.
The trick behind goal achievement is keeping motivated, excited, and fully charged about whatever it is you want to accomplish.

Here is a simple tip that will help keep you motivated on a straight line path towards achieving your goals:

Write your goals down and read them every day!

Doing this one simple action will catapult you towards achieving everything that you desire.

Your 4 step action plan towards achieving everything that you desire:

  1. Write down the exact goal that you want to accomplish. Be specific. Don’t say I want to lose weight. Say I want to lose 3 inches in my waist and fit into my red sexy dress by June 15! It is very important to be specific.
  2. Backward plan your goal. Imagine it is June 15 and you have achieved your goal. Imagine all of the steps that got you there. Plan backward from June 15 to the present day. Be clear on everything you need to do.
  3. Write down how achieving your goal will make you feel. How will it benefit your life? Why is it important to you to achieve this goal?
  4. Read this goal everyday, first thing in the morning, and dedicate yourself to achieving what you desire.

Taking this plan of action can be the difference between happiness and disappointment; the difference between achieving your goals and letting them slip away.

BTW: The Total Body Makeover is a proven program with a systematic plan of action that will help you achieve your Fat Loss & Fitness Goals faster, easier, and with less effort than you ever imagined possible. Click here for more details.
